Jeffie and Jorgie

Jefferson's 2 Year Stats:
Weight = 27 lbs and 6 oz (43%)
Height = 34 3/4 inches (61%)
Head circum = 50 cm (83%)

Jorgen's 4 Month Stats:
Weight = 16 lbs 4 oz (80%)
Height = 25 1/4 inches (65%)
Head circum = 42 cm (44%)

Jorgie is just about the same exact size Jeffie was at 4 months. Jorgie weighs 4 oz more and is 1/4 inches shorter.

Funny thing. Jorgie didn't grow between his 2 month and 4 month check ups. I asked the Dr and she said most likely he was measured wrong at 2 months. That's what I've thought all along because he "grew" 5 inches between 2 weeks and 2 months. I didn't think that was possible.

What's in a name...

I thought I should write down why Dave and I chose to name our two boys the names they have.

Jefferson David Sykes
Jeffie's middle name comes from his dad's first name. Pretty obvious, I know. However, Dave was named after his grandpa, David Russell Safford. So, Jeffie is named after him as well. We came up with Jefferson because Dave wanted to have another Jeff in his life. Dave's best friend, Jeffry Hyden, was killed in a car accident in 1999. So to honor Jeff, we named our first son after him.

Jorgen Niel Sykes
For Jorgen, we reversed my grandpa's name. His name was Niel Jorgenson. He died when I was 5 years old. I have vague memories of him which are really special to me. Grandpa turned his life around two years or so before he died and experienced all of the blessings of the gospel. I believe he had amazing courage and faith to make those changes.

Kayleigh Lynne Sykes
Although I wasn't involved in naming Kayleigh, I do know that her parents had her name picked out long before she was born. As the story is told, Dave came up with the creative spelling.

If I were to have a third little boy, I might try to name him after his other two great-grandpas. A lot of creativity may come into play because their names were Mack Grant Lunt and Eli LaMar Sykes.

Random Pics from Summer 2010

Some Family Pictures

Pictures of the Kiddies

Kayleigh came to be with us on July 2. Jorgen decided to arrive early probably so he could spend as much time with his big sissy as possible. Kayleigh had a great time with her two brothers and was a great help.

6 lbs 12 oz, 18.5 inches

Jorgen was due at the end of July/first of August. He was about three weeks early. He had difficulty breathing so he spent a couple of days in the NICU. We were originally told that he could spend up to three weeks in the NICU. Thankfully, he only spent a couple of days there instead. Priesthood blessings work!

It's A Boy!

We found out last month that we will be having another boy at the end of July. We are so excited for Jefferson to have a brother to play with. We think his name will be Jorgen Niel Sykes - after my grandpa, Niel Jorgenson. We'll call him Jory for short.

Easter 2010

Jefferson's favorite part of Easter was the grass in his Easter bucket. He didn't really care much for our attempt at an Easter egg hunt. He was more interested in the grass.

Jefferson's Game with Daddy

Jeffie loves to climb our stairs and he loves it even more when Daddy chases him. He'll crawl to his room and shut the door most of the way. Then he'll peek out to see if Daddy is there. Of course Daddy is which makes Jeffie squeal and giggle with delight.

Jefferson Likes to Eat

Jeffie has started to enjoy feeding himself. As you can see, he even licked his bowl clean.

Jeff's 1st Haircut

So, my intention was to leave the top a little longer so we could spike it. However, it turned into a buzz cut instead. I messed up. Hopefully I'll get it right next time. Jefferson did really well and was intrigued by the hair falling to the ground.
